ABOUT US

We founded Gar Gaar Family Services in November 2020 after we saw the needs of children and families that were exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic. Through our participation in the Child and Adult Food Care Program (CAFC) from the Department of Education, Gar Gaar provides culturally appropriate nutritious meals and activities for youth.  Based on the trust, access and cultural knowledge of the community we serve, we experienced an influx of participants in our program. While the pandemic will go away, the need to provide culturally competent services to our community will remain. Gar Gaar looks forward to expanding our services to even further to ensure all families have the resources and support they need to thrive.

Our team is proud to be a part of the communities we serve. Through other organizations, we have worked in our community for over 20 years providing culturally competent child care, meal provision and resource connection. Our success comes from having cultural awareness, essential for these programs and their recipients, to succeed. For us, this means providing nutritious meals and snacks that kids know and love, activities which further enrich or expand on children's learning and advocating and connecting our families to other resources to help them succeed.
